Iron Invasion rainy Success!

 

Iron Invasion 2013 was a success despite the rain!  Everyone saw the forecast of 80% chance of rain, but showed up anyway.  These rides are driven rain or shine, and they did get to drive in both this year!  The downpour that lasted about an hour hit around 12:45pm and lasted about 45 minutes. After that it was sunshine and smiles all around.  The number of entries that were on site this year was 854. This is
TOTAL entries, meaning friends parking (where muscle cars park), motorcycles, hot rods and kustoms. The breakdown was 160 cars in the friends section, 93 vintage cycles, and 601 rods
and customs.

 

There were a LOT of car clubs that stepped up and gave us volunteer shifts at the show – Tin Militia, Rod Tossers, Slackers, Five Aces, Voodoo Kings, Twisted
Pistons, Oliver Built Group, The Aces, Wreckless Chicago, Piston Jammers, Instigators, Ton Up Club, Romin’ Chariettes, Blackwalls, Chrome Czars and others.  The feature cars that were in the buildings came all the way from Washington state.  The bands, pin up contest, vendors, artists, and all the spectators that made the show special are waiting to hear what the dates will be for 2014.  Stay tuned to www.ironinvasion.com for details.

Rebel Without a Cause '40 Ford to be shown at Iron Invasion!

History is what you will find at the Iron Invasion.....
Chris Ito has accepted the invitation to bring his '40 Ford to the Iron Invasion.
Yes, this IS the same '40 Ford that was in James Dean's Rebel Without A Cause!
We appreciate all the people that are striving to make the Iron Invasion the must attend season ending car bash in the Chicago area.
If you have something historically significant and want to have a special indoor spot - please let us know soon - we are quickly running out of spots for the feature cars.

The above photos show the '40 in a screen capture form the actual movie.
The next picture shows the car as it was in 1949 with the original owner.
The last picture shows the car as it sits now - and it sits pretty.  We love it.

Iron Invasion Pre Party Announced!

Looks as thought the pre party for Iron Invasion will actually take place AT the grounds!
We have got the OK from McHenry County Fairgrounds to have a get together the night before the show.
We will have at least one band - details on that to be announced shortly.
Plans are for a shop tour at Hopperstad Customs from 430 pm to 600 pm
then we will cruise en masse to the fairgrounds.
Of course times and route info will likely change between now and then - but this is a great start to what we hope will be a great event.

some have asked us - what is setting this show apart from any others?

well.....

not every show has a Do It Yourself Stunt Show.........

that is right - YOU can go out in the stunt area and rip it up with some power slides or donuts and get the crowd into it.

Another thing that not every show has is the Retro Reels Cinema - a great chance to go and check out some vintage footage from the past.

And we will bring you some good music that is not seen at just every show.......

Torque Fest Update / DVD #6 etc

Thanks to everyone who we have met at all the shows around the country this summer! We have had a great time and we are now looking ahead to the fall and the final Hunnert Car Pile Up. The Chrome Czars have always been kind to us and we know that whatever they do in the future will be supported by the hot rod community. If they do a revamp of the Hunnert Car Pile Up - we know we will all be there. Bottom line - we should all support the Hunnert Car Heads Up - the drag racing event they have at Union Grove WI. I have been to all of them so far and it is a good time!

Vintage Torque Fest 2012 is starting to get under way and we have been able to add some things for 2012. By popular demand - we have added a Classic Pin Up contest. This will be sponsored in part by Retro Lovely magazine. If you have not seen this magazine yet....well - imagine Rodders Journal-only with a lot of classy dames in period correct clothing and settings. http://www.retrolovely.com/

Vintage Torque Fest will also be adding a second stage for the heavier music this year. The motorcycle area was a success last year - but many wanted to have bands over in that area as well - so.....we are adding a second stage to that area. So far we have confirmed

I have had several emails lately asking about the new show that will take place October 6, 2012. This will be called the Iron Invasion and takes place at McHenry County Fairgrounds in Woodstock IL. It will be a unique show with a DIY stunt show and a theater in one of the building to show vintage drags and stock car racing as well as clips from some of the B movie greats from the 50s.

The Vintage Torque Fest DVD is off to California to be mass produced and we hope to have this in the mail to all the pre registered people very soon. We appreciate your patience. Some may know I had to get a "real" job and as a result have not been able to put the amount of time in editing the DVD. Well - it is finally done and I think everyone will enjoy it.
