American Pickers visit the National Motorcycle Museum

For those that dont know.....the guys from American Pickers are loyal and have not forgot about the people that were friends with them BEFORE they were the cable phenom they are now.
John (creator of the National Motorcycle Museum) has always been a cool guy to me and he has been friends with Mike and Frank before they were "stars."
Here is a way Frank and Mike remember who was there for them way back when.

Frank and Mike came to Vintage Torque Fest last year as well. We did ask them to come- but knew that with the hectic schedule they now have - it would be very hard to find the time to show up. Not only did Frank and Mike show up to the show....they actually hung out and had a good time as well.

I do not know if their filming schedule will allow them to be at Torque Fest in May of this year......but Mike has agreed to let us view his recent purchase - the Von Dutch XAVW at Vintage Torque Fest May 4.5 - this will be in the main hall with other historic hot rods and customs.
I bought my first '35 Ford from Mike waaaaay back when - long before the show was on the air and I thank him for the continued friendship.

Trophy Queen to Attend Vintage Torque Fest!

ok....I am honored.......
Trophy Queen is coming to Torque Fest.
I need ya'll to purchase some of these top quality handbags.
I first met her in Yokohama at the Mooneyes show.
After that I would see her at the various shows in California.
And then I saw her article in DiCE magazine.
She has a way cool 1948 Indian.
After the last Pile Up she asked about Torque Fest......
I gave her the info and told her we could get her a spot.
I just looked at her schedule..........

Classic Pin Up Contest - May 5 - Vintage Torque Fest

BY POPULAR DEMAND - Torque Fest will have a classic Pin Up Contest in 2012

Miss (or Mrs.) Torque Thrust will be given her title at 1 PM on Saturday in Building #1.

Much like the hot rods and custom cars that are a part of Vintage Torque Fest, this will have specific rules as to who can enter and what kind of dress is appropriate for the contest.

There will be no adult content for this contest - if you are wanting to see writhing grinding or other "adult" behavior then perhaps you should go to another event....this is part of a show that try to re create a period of time - specifically the late 50s/early 60s. As a result - all girls should wear period correct clothing. Absolutely no nudity or even anything close to it. Remember that stag films were the equivalent of today's Victorias Secret commercial in the late 50s and this is NOT what we are after. We hope to class up the joint with some pretty women....we hope you will join us.

Must be dressed in classic 40's & 50's pinup attire. (No swimsuits or nudity)

Each contestant will fill out a short questionaire (will be read on stage)

The final 5 will be chosen by the audience, then a panel of 4 judges will determine the final 3, and then they will crown the Miss Torque Thrust 2012.

-All contestants must be signed up by 11:00 am the day of show you will find the booth to sign up, but don't hesitate for your spot! There will be a cut-off of 20 gals. Sorry but we can't take to long the fellas have to get there trophys too ladies ;)

-All contestants must be 18 years of age

-Everyone must be in appropriate pinup attire, (i.e. classic vintage 40's and 50's clothing, no swimsuits, nothing too low or way too short, please don't make us have to tell you that your rocking a look from 1986)

-Each gal will answer one question on stage in Round 1 ( don't worry we will post the questions a month before the show so you can be prepared and remember it's just one question)

-Then for round 2 the final 5 will be chosen by audience applause and the top 3 winners will be determined by a panel of 4 judges to crown the very 1st Miss Torque Thrust 2012!

Milwaukee - THIS weekend!!!

I simply could not help myself......
this has got to be one of the greatest car show / events/ extravaganza promo flyers of all time.
What does this have to do with anything?
Well - the Cheaters that brought you the flyer above - they are from Milwaukee, WI.
The World of Wheels will be having their show this weekend in Milwaukee - so we hope to see some of the Cheaters at the show......
and if you wanna stop by the Vintage Torque booth - we will give you some promo material for Vintage Torque Fest....
the show that the Cheaters have provided overnight security the past couple of years.
AND - if you paid attention to the tunes that were being played - that was DJ ROME - yep - he is a Cheater. He spins some killer tunes at the Cheaterama and we begged him to come and play for us at Torque Fest.

Those guys have the longest running traditional hot rod show in the midwest....possibly the country....
the last weekend in August - I have been there 3 times and intend to get back there - The Nite Owl is always magical - but there is always some extra pixie dust flying around on that last weekend in Aug.

The ORIGINAL Gasser.....coming to Torque Fest!

This car was the first of a series of Gassers and Funny Cars campaigned by NHRA Hall of Fame legend Junior Thompson over many years. The Old Black Studebaker won “Little Eliminator” in the first U.S. Nationals in Oklahoma City in 1958. It ran every weekend at Lions Drag Strip, at Pomona, Santa Ana and many other drag strips. The OBS (as it has come to be known) was raced against, and beat the best of the gassers during the ‘Golden Age of Drag Racing’, including Doug Cook, Tim Woods, Pitman and Edwards, Ed Weddle, Dick Harryman, Howard Johansen and many others.”

We are honored to have such an historic car being displayed in the inside historic hot rod section of Vintage Torque Fest.
